Laboratory Stress and Measurement of Hormones
in Healthy Overweight Women
Participants must be healthy pre-menopausal women, aged 18-50, with a BMI (Body Mass Index) =30. The study will require 5 visits to the St. Luke's Hospital site for an initial interview, a physical exam, an MRI, and two visits where blood will be drawn through an IV for 2.5 hours. The total duration of the study is approximately 11 hours.
You are ineligible for this study if you:
- are pregnant or taking oral contraception
- are a smoker
- have significant medical conditions (heart disease, diabetes)
- are on any medications
A preliminary phone interview will be conducted to evaluate eligibility for study.
All testing will take place at St. Luke's-Roosevelt's Hospital in Manhattan, near Columbia University (114th St. and Amsterdam Ave.).
