Hongchan Lee, M.D., Ph.D.



Hongchan Lee, M.D., Ph.D. Dr. Hongchan Lee is a post-doctoral research Fellow at the Obesity Research Center, Institute of Human Nutrition, Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. His background includes General surgery,clinical nutrition, bariatric medicine. anti-aging medicine. He received his Doctorate and M.D in General Surgery from Hanyang University in Korea. Also he is certified board member of anti-aging medicine, DACNB and pending clinical nutritionist.

In Jun 2004, Dr. Lee joined Steven B. Heymsfield at the Obesity Research Center as a postdoctoral research scientist to work on body composition and obesity. In the past year, he has worked with special interest in validate measurement of whole body fat and regional adipose tissue.

Dr. Lee's main interests are:

  1. Relationship between aging and obesity, body composition, measuring energy expenditure, and nutritional assessment
  2. Clinical evaluation and treatment of obesity and aging
  3. Bariatric surgery
