Gastric Bypass for Obesity Study



Study Description:
This NIH-funded study tracks body composition changes in a surgery group before and after surgery, and examines effects of protein supplementation and strength training. The study also tracks body composition changes in a control group. Hormones related to appetite are also being measured.

Criteria for Participation:
Considering Gastric Bypass Surgery for Obesity
Age: 18 - 52
Relative Good Health Except for Obesity
Live in New York Metro Area

Procedures:
Measurements of body composition, resting metabolic rate, blood levels

Benefits and/or Compensation:
Weekly nutritional counseling, weight training, up to $225 in compensation
