Vivian Jean Lee, M.D.


Dr. Lee is a visiting fellow at the New York Obesity Research Center, Institute of Human Nutrition, Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Her major research interest is about insulin resistance in obesity, specially, the role of intramuscular fat in obese subjects. And also, she is interested in racial difference of insulin resistance and incidence of diabetes among the races.
She has expertise in weight management and obesity related metabolic disease. She is a member of the Korean Medical Association, Korean society for the study of Obesity, Korean Academy of Family Medicine, Korean Academy of Primary Care, and North American Association for the Study of Obesity.

Dr. Lee's interest's are:

  1. weight management in an aspect of nutrition and pharmacologic treatment
  2. obesity - related metabolic abnormalities such as insulin resistance, and the abnormal lipid metabolism
  3. body composition and their influence on metabolism
  4. different action of fat according to their distribution
