Study Purpose
|
The purpose of this study is to assess brain activity, genes and hormones, in order to gain a better understanding of biological processes affecting appetite, eating and obesity.
|
|
Study Design
|
- 2 visits - Day 1 for consultation and height, weight and waist measurements (adolescent plus biological mother); Day 2 for test day including 1 fMRI scan, blood draws for gene and hormone information, questionnaires, liquid and buffet meals (adolescents only).
|
|
Study Qualifications
|
- Age: 14 – 18 years old
- Healthy, medication free
|
|
Study Duration
|
First visit for initial consultation lasts 1.5 hours, 3 hours for test day.
|
|
Study Benefits
|
Up to $300 per family plus up $22.50 for public transportation costs.
