Study Type
|
Brain activation to food stimuli in adults undergoing diet weight loss and adults undergoing bariatric surgery.
|
|
Study Purpose
|
The purpose of this study is to assess brain activity, genes and hormones, in order to gain a better understanding of biological processes affecting appetite, eating and obesity.
|
|
Study Design
|
Subjects are required to have an initial consult followed by three different scans. The second scan occurs 3 months after the first and the third scan occurs 15 months after the second. Each scan includes a MRI scan as well as a blood draw.

Study Qualifications
|
- Age: 18-65
- Gender: Men and Women
- Obese (certain BMI range) but otherwise healthy
|
|
Study Duration
|
1 Physical lasting approximately 1 hour; 1 Initial Consult lasting approximately 1 hour; three scans lasting four and a half hours each.
|
|
Study Benefits
|
Up to $850 for participation in all three scans: $200 for each scan, $100 for the initial consult, and $150 bonus for completion.
